The DIY comedy forces are strong in Tampa Bay, and on Wednesday it creeps into Ybor City by way of this gig at the Lion’s Den Lounge above the Big Easy bar and Cajun restaurant.

A longtime CL fave, the dark and depreciating Shannon Kelly, is on the bill, but so is some Ukrainian kid who immigrated here to perform jokes for Americans (Tim Chirikalov) and Tampa’s favorite waist-up model (Sean Heslep). Former line cook Matt Carter (pictured) — who often says he decided to pursue comedy because he’d rather turn 30 and be a passionate, shitty comic than a great line cook who didn’t care about his job — rounds things out along with Elijah Hernandez and Jeff Klei.

Wed. March 26. Lion’s Den Cigar Lounge Ybor 1704 1/2, Ybor City. 8 p.m. INFO.
