Jennifer studied biology for six years, planning for a career in science, but the Universe had other plans. In 2011, Jen was diagnosed with a rare lung disease that sidelined her from scientific research. Her immune system, plagued by Scleroderma, had attacked her lungs to the point of no return. She now required supplemental oxygen 24/7.
In 2012, she moved back home to Florida, where she spent a lot of time lying in bed staring at the ceiling. What to do now?
She started writing. She bought a camera. She built a blog. Two years later, Creative Loafing Tampa noticed her photos and writing at Florida Illustrated and asked her to join their team.
Schlepping around the Tampa Bay area with her camera, Jen came to love photography in a way she had never expected. Regardless of life's challenges, photography made her focus (punny, yes?) on the beauty in everything around her.
Jen has a passion for visual storytelling, and she loves sharing her photos with the Tampa Bay community. Sometimes she makes her friends look at her five zillion vacation photos, but since her photos, according to her editor, tend to kick ass, no one seems to mind.
