Under the law, which takes effect July 1, contributions to political committees backing initiatives would be limited to $3,000.

DeSantis described Florida as a “trailblazer” and said the measure would protect free speech.

His PAC then sent out a fundraising email.

Democrats and voting-rights groups argue the law would place undue burdens on voting and would disproportionately harm Black, Hispanic and disabled voters.

The bill (SB 8-A) could mean that only thoroughbred horse races will continue at Florida tracks.

“Florida’s recent legislation attacking the voting rights of its Black and Latino residents is like a virus attacking the human heart,” the lawsuit said.

“By signing this bill into law, Gov. DeSantis is taking Floridians’ hard-earned tax dollars and diverting them out of public schools into private schools…”

“If the state doesn’t want to take any action against the gun lobby, stop prohibiting local governments from doing that,” Rep. Anna Eskamani, D-Orlando said during the debate.

The idling of the cruise industry has become a hot-button political issue in Florida, with DeSantis regularly criticizing the CDC during public events.

The bill would place a $3,000 cap on contributions to political committees trying to put proposed constitutional amendments on the ballot.

The Jacksonville Democrat was convicted on fraud and tax charges related to her role in using contributions to the One Door for Education charity for personal expenses and events.

The Florida bill addresses a series of issues, including the use of drop boxes for mail-in ballots.

Marsy’s Law addresses a series of issues related to victims’ rights, including offering privacy protections. Nearly 62 percent of voters approved the measure in 2018.
