Keeping local beverages and bites in mind, here's that weekly thing we put together to help you map out the tastiest weekend imaginable.
• Suckers for specialty cocktails won't need much convincing when it comes to Jug & Bottle Dept.'s Friday Tryday. They're invited to sample two bottled creations — Sunset Sangria and Blood Orange Mimosa — from Wynwood-based Miami Cocktail Co. between 5 and 7 p.m. Friday. Who needs traditional happy hour? Free. 6203 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. 813-675-4522.
• The fluffy wonder served in one big pan that is paella originated on the east coast of Spain. Starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, learn to make the popular Valencian rice classic with the Nature's Food Patch demo specialist throughout the next Demos to Di For cooking class: Traditional Spanish Paella. Free. 1225 Cleveland St., Clearwater. 727-443-6703.
• As if there was a better place to celebrate Saturday as Sour Beer Day, Arkane Aleworks fills its tasting room and beer garden with more than 30 house sours on draft from noon to midnight. Expect a mix of old favorites and new creations, as well as limited releases. There's no admission fee, but $3 gets the crowd an AA token that's equivalent to a half pour (do $20 for seven tokens). FYI: Cash makes scoring beer — and more than likely the food truck grub — a whole lot faster. Free, money for beer and food. 2480 E. Bay Drive #23, Largo. 727-270-7117.
• Even if you're not somebody who goes out of their way to witness dedicated coffee servers going head-to-head to determine who can best decorate the surface of a caffeinated beverage, Spaddy's Coffee Co.'s Throwdown + 2 Year Party still has something for you. Food and beer? Check. DJ Casper and live music by Jinx? Checkeroo. Cold-brew floats by The Revolution Ice Cream Co.? Oh, yes. Stage it at a great hangout and make it a fundraiser for the Heights Classic charity golf tournament and you've got a party, which kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday. Free, money for food and drinks. 5206 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. 954-829-2111. —Scott Harrell
• On Sunday, a reimagined breakfast favorite takes center stage during Smokin' Sunday, hosted at Grindhaus Brew Lab Tap Room and Homebrew Supply. Grilled and smoked Scotch eggs are presented Benedict-style — topped with hollandaise and all. They're available from 2 to 4 p.m. $5. 1650 N. Hercules Ave. #I, Clearwater. 727-240-0804.
