After 24 years of offering only beer, wine and sangria alongside its popular Mexican cuisine, Red Mesa Restaurant has finally acquired a liquor license.
Although its sibling restaurant, Red Mesa Cantina has been serving up margaritas and intricate cocktails for years, the OG Red Mesa location kept it simple, until now.
The restaurant’s newly updated drink menu now features a large selection of tequila, vodka, gin, scotch and rum alongside hand-crafted cocktails and margarita offerings. Some stand-out margaritas are the Floradita, which is a blend of Don Julio Plata tequila, house-infused hibiscus agave nectar, lime juice and hibiscus water, as well as the Hot Carlos, which combines Hornitos Reposado tequila, fresh muddled jalapeno, lime juice and agave nectar under a chili-salt rim.
Red Mesa’s new liquor and spirits addition will no doubt complement its classic menu full of favorites like chile rellenos, street tacos, burritos, and various types of house-made guacamole. The historic Mexican restaurant also offers the same selection of beer, wine and sangria as before the liquor license.
Red Mesa Restaurant is located at 4912 4th St. N. in St Petersburg open 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
