Is Sept. 26 really National Pancake Day? Apparently Twitter thinks so (the hashtag was trending as of Tuesday morning, you know), but IHOP's popular celebration of the same name is observed annually in March.

Hmmm.

This is what happens, I guess, when we turn every sort of food or beverage we can think of into a weirdly specific "holiday." You remember National Grits for Breakfast Day, right? And who could forget Hot Mulled Cider Day?

Doubles seem inevitable, now that I think about it.

But even if there are multiple Pancake Days in a year, who am I to complain? To celebrate the occasion, here are two tasty pancake recipes — one a little more conventional than the other — that we dug up from the CL archive. Both are worthy of any table during this most stacked food holiday. Yes, for dinner, too.

• German Oven Pancakes
