Asian Kitchen has expanded with a new location at 117 S. Hyde Park Ave. on the same block as Oxford Exchange and The Retreat.

The fast-casual restaurant is billed as an Asian fusion concept serving "a fresh modern approach to everyday traditional Asian dishes."

The original location on Bayshore Boulevard was given a 4 out of 5 star review by CL food critic Jon Palmer Claridge, who was wowed by the appetizer selection.

"The edamame is standard issue," he wrote, "but the potstickers display lovely caramelization and the fat, fresh spring roll with chicken is full of fresh herbs and lettuce for crunch and perfectly enhanced by the accompanying peanut sauce."

Diners can also opt for steamed buns with their choice of chicken, tofu, beef brisket or shrimp. There is also a variety of poke and noodle bowls, sushi burritos, banh mi sandos, and build-your-own bowl options.

According to our critic, "It’s hard to believe this is coming from a fast-casual kitchen with staff in ball caps and T-shirts." You can see what the hype is about from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Sat., closed on Sunday.
