Ava, opened in Tampa's SoHo neighborhood in 2014 by Tampa Bay restaurateur Michael Stewart and Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon, will launch its second location, a pizzeria concept, at the gourmet market in early 2017.
Along the Riverwalk in Tampa Heights, executive chef Joshua Hernandez will pull off pizzas, salads and assorted panini using a 900-degree Italian Acunto oven.
"We are thrilled to bring our food to The Heights Public Market," said Stewart, one of the investors behind Ava's expansion alongside Maddon, in a statement. "Working with SoHo Capital gives us the opportunity to expand our customer base and to connect to the fast-growing north end of downtown Tampa."
Announced Tuesday morning, the new pizzeria is the latest tenant scheduled to open at The Heights Public Market, which will share the 70,000-square-foot Armature Works that SoHo Capital is restoring with two restaurants, a rooftop social area, multiple event spaces and a co-work space.Fine and Dandy, Ichicoro Ramen, Union by Commune + Co., Chocolate Pi, Steelbach Ranch and Tailored Twig are the market's previously revealed tenants.
The Heights Public Market, which has room for three more concepts from local restaurateurs and chefs, will also collaborate with its tenants on an interactive kitchen — Show + Tell — for educational cooking classes and pop-up dinners.
