Lucky's Market is making its 13th Florida location, and first in St. Petersburg, official with a bacon-cutting ceremony. Scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, the ritual is one that the Boulder, Colorado-founded organic grocery chain will use to kick off the Tyrone store's opening at 6765 22nd Ave. N.

In addition to the bacon cutting — which sounds lovely, right? — customers can look forward to tastings of house-smoked bacon and storewide samples from local vendors. Lucky's Market is fond of carrying area-made products, after all.

The launch of Lucky's Market St. Pete will result in some do-goodery, too, as the grocery chain plans to present $10,000 in "Impact Grants" to a few nonprofit partners in the community.

Can't make it on Wednesday? Head to the new location between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday for apothecary gift basket giveaways, live music and more product samplings.

Started in 2003 by two chefs, Lucky's Market first entered the greater Tampa Bay area last year, when its Sarasota store premiered in October. Clermont, Coral Springs, Gainesville, Naples, Neptune Beach, Oakland Park, Orlando, Panama City, Plantation, Tallahassee and West Melbourne house the Sunshine State's other locations, with Hunters Creek and Winter Park also coming soon.
