If you still haven't checked out the Independent Bar St. Petersburg, the beer hall's grand reopening is as good a time as any.
The Indie, newly located at 1049 Central Ave. in the EDGE District, opened to the public Oct. 1, offering a rotating selection of 24 drafts from local, national and international breweries. There's also a curated bottle lineup, and each beer is served in style-specific glassware.
For those who aren't big on craft beer, the neighborhood bar with a European-yet-familiar vibe carries cider, mead and boutique wines, plus nitro, pressure-brewed coffee, root beer and kombucha on draft.
During its grand reopening, planned for 3 to 10 p.m. Dec. 3, the Indie will showcase beer and wine tastings, food, live tunes (from musicians like The Burke Brothers and Shawn Kyle) and raffle prizes.
"The beer culture in St. Petersburg has grown exponentially in the past several years and we are very excited about our new location in the Edge District," said proprietor Veronica Danko in a statement. "We look forward to seeing long time customers and welcoming newcomers to experience craft beer from around the world, and invite them to become a part of our Indie family."
The 1931 building that the Indie calls home is updated with locally made walnut cedar and zebrawood fixtures. It features plenty of seating options inside and out, and new roll-up garage doors allow the interior to spill into the outdoor sidewalk cafe.
The bar operates 3 p.m. to midnight Monday through Wednesday, 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday through Friday, noon to 1 a.m. Saturday, and noon to midnight Sunday.
