There's still time to add that Italian dish you loved as a kid — and continue to crave and make as an adult (thanks, Nonna) — to BellaBrava's Numero Uno recipe contest. Entries for the competition, which began Jan. 1, are accepted until Jan. 31, and the winner snags a spot on the downtown St. Pete trattoria's menu for three months.
What contenders need to know: Submissions must include a photo, title, recipe and brief story behind the dish — whether it's an appetizer, entree or dessert. Announced no later than Feb. 9, 10 semifinalists are then bestowed with $50 BellaBrava gift cards. But the best part is that three finalists, chosen by Feb. 16, get to participate in the Numero Uno Cook-Off.
The cook-off gives the trio the opportunity to pull off their entries in the kitchen with executive chef Jeffrey Jew. A panel of judges, including Mayor Rick Kriseman and Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin, are set to taste each dish to determine the contest's victorious home cook, who receives a dinner for four alongside their name and recipe on the menu.
A complete outline of the rules are listed on the BellaBrava website, where participants are asked to fill out their submission forms.
