Five solid events for locals seeking food and drink throughout the weekend, whether they're soccer junkies or salsa aficionados.

• Hosted most recently four years ago (because, futbol), the Independent Cafe and Bar's World Cup celebration shows the majority of the games — the ones after 9 a.m. — on a big-screen projector in its beer hall, so head there Friday. Featured international breweries include Radeberger, Weihenstephan, Maeloc (well, OK, it's cider) and Duvel. Soccer memorabilia and beer prizes get raffled throughout the series — plus, on the day of the tournament's final match, there's an opportunity to participate in the bracket contest for a grand prize. What's more, food specials pay homage to the participating countries' cultures. The monthlong event kicked off Thursday, but runs through July 15. Free, money for beer and food. 5016 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. 813-341-4883.

• Babe Rosé is making its way to District Tavern on Friday. Regionites are invited to celebrate the bar's roll out of the popular canned wine with promo samples during the Babe Bash, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Babe can also be purchased to-go — just in case you're trying to get down with some beach or poolside sipping this weekend. Free. 116 N. 12th St., Tampa. 813-252-3444.

• Beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Infusion Brewing Co.'s latest food battle, Salsa Showdown, spotlights a beloved dip. Competitors are asked to bring their salsa entries to the brewery between 1 and 1:45 p.m., as the tasting kick off soon after. Ultimately, the crowd determines the Best in Show — whose creator walks away with a gift card to Infusion, alongside bragging rights. Free, money for beer. 7813 Mitchell Blvd., New Port Richey. 727-312-4512.

• Wondering what to do with Dad on Sunday? Take him to Zephyrhills Brewing Company, where the Father's Day Beer Release is planned. Between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., taproom guests score pours of Danny – Disciple of Darkness, a bourbon barrel-aged stout with cocoa nibs, vanilla and chipotle. When it's gone, it's gone, and do ask the brewery about the rich beer's name. Free, money for beer. 38530 Fifth Ave., Zephyrhills. 813-715-2683.

• Another Pop's Day option is Free Scoop for Dads at The Revolution Ice Cream Co. The event allows fathers to snag a scoop of ice cream on the house from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Free. 6701 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. 813-513-5053.
