On Friday, two businesses a part of the region’s craft meadery and brewery landscape have opened (and reopened) their doors.

Palm Harbor’s Black Fox Meadery, which has been on hiatus at 1688 Alternate 19 for several months, reopened earlier this afternoon with a rebranded look and new store hours: noon to 6 p.m. daily.

A limited supply of the meadery’s Blooze and Pink Stuff meads are on sale ($12 each, or two for $20) in 375-milliliter bottles, and $25 growler fills are being offered as well. Though Black Fox says it can no longer fill its old growlers, customers may swap their old ones for new at no extra cost.

Every month, expect between three and five fresh mead flavors; they’ll be featured as they become available.

In Hillsborough, South Tampa’s first brewery launched in soft-opening mode. 81Bay Brewing Co.’s taproom hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 3 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

With a limited selection of beer for now, 81Bay at 4465 W. Gandy Blvd. is inviting patrons to watch the weekly transformation of its in-progress tasting room. Table games and snacks are welcome.
