A local vegan deli is breaking bread in a brand new space next week.

Black Radish Bodega usually slings breakfast sammies and oat milk lattes out of its corner store at 2923 N 12th St., but is taking its plant-based eats in another direction for a special, buffet-style dinner next week.

Black Radish hosts its all-vegan, all-you-can-eat Friendsgiving event on Wednesday, Nov. 27. It takes place In Ybor City at Chef Suz Lara’s long-awaited debut concept Lara, which is located at 1919 E 7th Ave. ,the former Stone Soup Company.

“Basically, this is my biggest dream—but it was logistically hard to do. But once I told my good friend Suz about it, she said we had to do it,” Sanchez—who co-owns Black Radish with Mikey Schmidt and Bryon Lippincott—tells Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. “This dinner is not just for vegans, either. I totally understand that people are really into their own traditions, but this is a fun new thing that will fulfill people’s need for the classic dishes, too.”

Tickets for adults run for $69.99, while children ages 6-14 can also indulge in this cruelty-free feast for $34.99 each. Kiddos ages five and under can eat for free.

There are two 90-minute seatings at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., with tickets including access to its all-you-can-eat buffet and one welcoming beverage. There will be two carving stations for a hickory-smoked, maple glazed Tofurky and seitan-based roast, in addition to sides like mac and cheese, savory dressing, biscuits, salads, green bean casserole and desserts, as well as a variety of whole food-based, gluten-free options.

More dishes that will be featured at next week’s Friendsgiving include cornbread with molasses whipped butter, miso-maple glazed Japanese sweet potatoes and an herb roasted winter squash melody.

“Some people are a little confused about Radish’s menu, assuming we sell ‘processed’ foods because we want to. We are a corner store, and within the limitations of that definition and our small kitchen, we do what we can,” Sanchez explains. “So it’s really incredible to be given the opportunity to show people what we actually can do and what we’re excited about without the confines of our physical space.”

While its vegan dinner stacked with classic Thanksgiving fare will surely be the star of the show, both alcoholic and N/A beverages will also be available for purchase from Lara’s apothecary-inspired bar—a true sneak peek at the long-awaited Ybor City concept.

Tickets to Black Radish’s Friendsgiving buffet of “epic proportions” can be purchased directly through the V.M. Ybor bodega’s website.

“There’s really only one other vegan Friendsgiving buffet that’s happening in the country, so I think this is going to be really special. Although Chef Suz is helping and lending her space for us, she definitely wanted to make sure it was known that this is my baby and my dream,” Sanchez says. “This event isn’t about celebrating America or whatever, it’s about breaking bread, getting together and helping save some animals.”
