Florida-based chain Canopy Road Cafe opened its ninth location in a former Taco Bus location at 4308 W Gandy Blvd.
This is the company’s second location in Tampa Bay, with the first in Brandon at 10254 Causeway Blvd. Canopy Road started out in Tallahassee, but has always planned on bringing its breakfast fare to Tampa.
“Bringing Canopy Road Cafe to South Tampa has been a goal since the beginning,” wrote the owners on Instagram. “One of our owners, Brad, grew up here and has always known he wanted to take the Tallahassee-grown restaurant home one day.”
Canopy Road isn’t your normal diner, though. While you find your fair share of Belgian waffles, creative pancake piles, omelets, skillets and even handhelds like breakfast burritos, it also serves gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian-friendly plates.
While you can reach for the healthier fare like their avocado toast or the fruit bowl, you can also find creative plates like churro waffles and Cap’n Crunch french toast.
If you’re looking for a vegan option, we recommend The Vegan breakfast skillet (tofu scramble topped with sauteed onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, spinach and broccoli). Sure, it just sounds like a healthy option, but you’ll have to trust us.
If breakfast isn’t your jam, there's also salad, sandwich and burger options. Drinks are your standard diner options—coffee, soda, juice, tea or milk.
