Last month, Michelle and Greg Baker's Refinery shared some news with its diners on Facebook.
"Since 2010, we have always tried to create new things to offer to the Tampa Bay area. Some have called us pioneers and give us kudos for changing the Tampa Bay dining scene. (We're still deciding if that is deserving.) But The Refinery — the way it has been for the last 6 years and 9 months — has now "been done," reads the Seminole Heights staple's Oct. 21 post. "Local. Pushing culinary boundaries. Farm to Fork. Offal. 100 Miles. Charcuterie. Daily changing menus. There are now a good handful of restaurants who are just like us."
So, it's time for a change. And that ain't a bad thing.
Though the look of The Refinery won't be altered inside or out, according to the post, Refi Burgers have entered the spotlight on the eatery's new menu. The pricing is different, too.
Refi Burgers, weighing in at 8 ounces and served on Jameson B. Breadhouse Bakes buns, now have their own section, and fresh options will come and go. As of press time, burger varieties included the vegetarian Black Eyed Pea (chow chow, corn-paprika aioli, cucumber, provolone) and the Refined (peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, potato sticks, fancy sauce).
Menu selections also include Small Plates & Snacks and Not Burgers.
"We'll still work with our farmers, we always will but it might not be a local farm. It will certainly be a sustainable farm. Ya know, the ones who do it right," the Facebook update continues. "We are not inventing the wheel, we're just trying to Refine it."
