To celebrate 54 years in business, Portillo's is rolling back the price of its famed chocolate cake. Each slice of the double-layer treat, normally priced at $3, will go for 54 cents on Thursday, and the anniversary deal is limited to one slice per customer.
The Portillo's dessert — baked fresh daily and frosted with chocolate icing — is one of several menu items (think all-the-way dogs and Italian beef) that has hooked Bay area diners since the Chicago-area mainstay brought its first Florida restaurant to Brandon in April 2016. A Tampa outpost at University Mall followed five months later, and both locations plan to offer discounted slices while supplies last.
Guests can visit the restaurant chain's website and sign up to snag a free slice of chocolate cake once their birthdays roll around, too.
