Ciccio Restaurant Group is flocking to Hyde Park Village, where the flagship restaurant for its chicken-driven betterBYRD is now planned. Opening in fall at 1633 W. Snow Ave. (next to Vineyard Vines where Piquant closed its doors), betterBYRD No. 2, which has a fast-casual, quick-serve approach to food, will feature a full bar and even a sit-down, full-service dining area.

“We really wanted to create an alternative chicken joint for modern day America where tastes and preferences seem to be evolving towards fresh made creative cuisine. BetterByrd is our take on ‘quick service’ chicken in all of its various forms,” said betterBYRD co-founder James Lanza in a statement.

Also behind SoHo’s popular Fresh Kitchen, Daily Eats and Green Lemon, CRG announced the arrival of betterBYRD, known for its chicken dishes and made-to-order miniature doughnuts, last spring. In the months that followed, the restaurant opened its first location to St. Petersburg, offering a variety of sandwiches, tacos, “wyngs” and tenders using hormone- and steroid-free chicken.

Menu highlights include the Mac & Byrd, a fried chicken sandwich topped with mac and cheese, and the Byrd Bowl, which arrives with ingredients like ramen noodles, jalapeños and Peruvian slaw. Guests can also expect craft sodas and beer, frozen cocktails and a weekend brunch with a mimosa bar, alongside lunch and dinner.
