Cocktail ideas for New Year's Eve reveling

If you plan to commemorate 2014 at home on New Year's Eve, or enjoy a cocktail before hitting the town, we've got two seasonal adult beverages fit for both celebration styles.

The first recipe, which Nestlé El Mejor Nido shared with CL, allows you to indulge in the traditional Puerto Rican delicacy that is coquito. Though mixing your favorite rum into the drink isn't mandatory, we highly recommend it. And the second cocktail formula from Herradura unites tequila, coffee liqueur and more to create a buzz-worthy beverage.

Get ready to shout "Happy New Year!" with either in hand.

Coquito Cocktail
Serves 8

2 cups coconut milk
1 cup Nestlé La Lechera Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 cup Nestlé Carnation Evaporated Milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Rum (optional)

Place coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, cinnamon and nutmeg in blender; cover. Blend until combined.

Refrigerate for 1 hour or until cold. Serve cold, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.

Herradura Espresso
Serves 1

1 1/2 ounces Herradura Añejo
1/2 ounce coffee liqueur
1 1/2 ounces espresso
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1 1/2 ounces heavy cream

Place all ingredients, excluding the heavy cream, into a cocktail shaker filled with cubed ice. Shake hard and strain over ice in to a chilled coupe glass.

In a separate shaker, fill with the heavy cream and cubed ice. Shake hard to aerate, then pour carefully over a bar spoon to layer the cream over the coffee. Garnish with three coffee beans.
