There’s a $10.2 million deal afoot that would turn a downtown Tampa block bordered by Florida Avenue and Zack, Polk and Marion Streets into a residential and/or entertainment space (First Presbyterian Church, which sits there now, voted to sell its property to a developer in May).

That block, specifically the corner of Florida Avenue and Zack Street, was once home to The Hub before that church gave it the boot; the downtown dive and Tampa-lifer hangout, however, has endured at its current location just a block away.

Next Thursday, the Hub kicks off a four-day 70-year anniversary party featuring free concerts from some of CL’s favorite bands and built around a loyal client base and staff that truly represent some of the hardest-working, realest people Tampa Bay has to offer.

You can’t call yourself a local if you don’t stop by for at least one.

Thurs.-Sun. Aug. 29-Sept. 1. The Hub, 719 N. Franklin St., Tampa. No cover. (813) 229-1553.
