Duckweed Urban Grocery, the small neighborhood grocery store based in downtown Tampa, will hold a three-day grand opening for its second concept in Tampa's Channel District this weekend.
At 111 N. 12th St. in The Place at Channelside, the new store has been in soft-opening mode since March 15. Similar to its downtown flagship, the Channelside Duckweed sells meats and cheeses, wine, craft beer, produce, ready-to-eat items, pet products, baked goods and more.
The "grand hatching" event is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, and 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Local vendor, craft beer and wine tastings will be offered.
"We're calling it a hatching because, while we are excited to be open for our customers, it will take some time to be fully stocked and operational," says Alexandra Rath, marketing manager for Duckweed, in a news release. "Just as baby ducks usually take 28 to 35 days to hatch, Duckweed Channel District will continue to grow and become more complete with every passing day."
Though the hours are subject to change, the Channelside Duckweed plans to operate 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
