Stephanie Swanz, the owner of Armature Works’ food stall Empamamas, is launching a new concept called “Muchachas.” The chef and restaurateur is keeping things pretty under wraps, but from hints from branding (sombreros and maracas), it looks like Muchachas may be serving up Mexican cuisine.

Swanz has created a cult following with her Empamama' menu loaded with signature empanadas like the Tampa Girl with roasted pork, honey ham, genoa salami, swiss cheese, pickle and Tampa Girl sauce. Options also include tacos, Bang Bang Chicken tenders and fries. Needless to say, Muchachas menu is set to have some gems.

On October 19, Swanz posted to Facebook with the announcement and left Empamama fans guessing with what’s coming next.

“What most of you don’t know is that during this time, I was approached about an opportunity that I simply couldn’t pass up. It was a really bright light at the end of a pretty dark tunnel,” the post said. Swanz went on to share she signed a lease on a space for the forthcoming Muchachas concept on Sept. 1. Details will be shared through the Muchachas Facebook (@muchachas.tampa).

So far, Swanz has shared that Tampa Bay mural artist Leo Gomez is behind the restaurant’s wall decor (pictured above).

The location and an opening date has yet to be announced, but Creative Loafing Tampa Bay has an interview on the books with Swanz, so stay tuned for details.

If you’re wanting to be behind the counter, Muchachas is hosting a hiring event at Armature Works’ Show + Tell room on Thursday, Oct. 29, from noon-5 p.m. The joint is hiring for all positions.

Armature Works is located at 1910 N. Ola Ave. in Tampa Heights. Be sure to bring your mask and resume.
