What do you get when Tampa Bay restaurateur Frank Chivas, Chicago Cubs Manager Joe Maddon and former Clearwater mayor Brian Aungst Sr. join forces? Feast on the Beach.
Feast on the Beach is the trio’s inaugural wine and seafood festival in Clearwater Beach, which serves as a showcase of fresh catches and vino as much as craft brews. The celebration is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30, to Sunday, Dec. 2. Participating local restaurants include Clear Sky Cafe, Bob Heilman’s Beachcomber and Ocean Hai, plus several eateries from Chivas’s BayStar Restaurant Group.
Throughout the weekend, Feast on the Beach is essentially divided into three parts. First up is the Cheers for Charity Social, planned for the Wyndham Grand hotel at 7 p.m. Friday, that benefits the Richard O. Jacobson Foundation with its lineup of wine and beer, restaurant booths and live entertainment.
From noon to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the fest itself takes center stage at Pier 60 Park, where more than 300 wine samples accompany more area eats. Guests should stop by Feast on the Beach’s retail tent for discounted pricing on the best bottles they sip during the afternoon of indulging.
The beer and grouper smackdown, also hosted at Pier 60 Park, rounds out the merriment at noon Sunday. Restaurants battle it out during the friendly competition, while attendees sip on 28-plus specialty suds. A concert even coincides with the sunset.
Admission to the Cheers for Charity Social and the fest, aka the ticketed portions of Feast on the Beach, range in price from $50 to $125. But the beer and grouper smackdown is free. To secure a ticket or two, purchase ’em online.
