Although new to the game, Big Storm Coffee Co., snagged a silver medal at the 2019 Golden Bean Awards, which is the world’s largest coffee roaster competition.
The Golden Bean is an annual competition to find the best roasters in the biz. Hopefuls are judged during blind taste tests across different categories and brew methods. Medals are awarded in 11 different categories, and Big Storm took home awards in three. The Morning Blend won a Silver in the Super-Automatic Espresso category, Sunset Calm won bronze in the Decaffeinated Milk-Based category and bronze was awarded to the Winter Blend in the Filter category.
“While most of our fans know Big Storm for our award-winning craft beers, we are also really proud and passionate about our locally roasted coffee. It is really humbling and exciting to see Big Storm Coffee take home such a big honor on a global scale,” Big Storm Coffee Co. co-owner L.J. Govoni shared in a recent statement. “Brewing coffee is a lot like working with craft beer. It’s truly a craft of working with different flavor profiles to create a balanced yet bold flavor."
