St. Petersburg's latest craft brewery opens to the public at noon Tuesday.

Named after the biplane that aviator Tony Jannus flew during the world's first commercial flight in 1914, Flying Boat Brewing Co. has been in the works for more than a year, just down the street from Woodlawn Park and a mile away from Tropicana Field, at 1776 11th Ave. N.

Last April, Flying Boat co-founder Josh Perian told CL the new brewery plans to premiere with eight beers likely an IPA and a porter, among others from head brewer Tyler Singletary, who previously brewed for Seminole Heights' Southern Brewing & Winemaking.

The brewery most recently gave locals a taste of what's to come at Cajun Cafe on the Bayou's Spring Beer Fest. But swoop in and enjoy a beer inside Flying Boat's completed digs, featuring a 2,000-square-foot tasting room alongside 8,000 square feet reserved for brewing.
