When the pandemic hit, former police officer and politician David Shane thought he should take the leap and try doing what he loved for a living. And his love—or as he describes it—his obsession, is doughnuts. Having never been in the food industry before, or even made a doughnut, Shane got to researching and testing his creations before getting the itch to launch Mad Cow Donuts.

The 37-year-old plans to launch the Mad Cow Donuts website Nov. 23, the week of Thanksgiving. Mad Cow's hand-crafted doughnuts are made fresh daily and are delivered throughout the St. Petersburg area seven days a week. The concept's motto is "made fresh daily with love."

The shop offers a massive amount of cake, raised, filled and specialty doughnuts. You can grab all the classic bites like glazed doughnuts adorned with or without sprinkles, Boston and Bavarian creme, even plain Jane old fashioned cake doughnuts. Some highlights include apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon buns and a few varieties of turnovers.

All that's good news for folks looking for alternatives to corporate doughnut chains, but do know that there is no physical location for Mad Cow, so you'll have to order online and get these delights delivered to your door.  All of Mad Cow's sales will be made through the website and available for next-day delivery (or whenever you schedule your order for).

Shane is working on linking up with local cafes and shops to sell Mad Cow Donuts, as well as hosting pop-up events and frequenting markets.

Until the official launch goes down, you can have Mad Cow Donuts delivered by ordering via email at support@madcowdonuts.com. You can also follow along with the madness through social media, @madcowdonuts on Facebook and Instagram.
