Homestead-based Farm Share is gearing up to give away fresh produce locally between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday.
Free Food Distribution, an event supported by the city of St. Petersburg and GTE Financial that's meant to alleviate hunger and food insecurity, is planned for the St. Pete GTE at 2190 18th Ave. S. Due to limited quantities of produce, Farm Share — a large-scale nonprofit food bank and packing house — will hand out the share's nutritious offerings on a first-come, first-served basis.
With five in-state distribution centers, Farm Share focuses on providing Florida-grown produce to low-income families in need.
