Any CL readers make it out to the annual Great American Beer Festival this past weekend? Brewers from the Sunshine State did, and then some.
Local beer makers represented at the big-deal Denver event, held from Oct. 5 to 7, participated in the huuuge public beer tasting and Pro-Am Competition, yes. But seven of them also took home accolades from the GABF's medal-awarding beer competition.
Winners from the greater Tampa Bay area are Tampa's Six Ten Brewing (Mischievous Black Dark Lager, gold); Sarasota's Big Top Brewing Company (Ringmaster Raspberry Berliner, silver); St. Petersburg-based Pinellas Ale Works (Milk Bone Sweet Stout, silver); and Lakeland's Brew Hub (Three Tun English Bitter and Rome City IPA, gold).
Fort Lauderdale's LauderAle (C Porter, gold), Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park (No Crusts Peanut Butter & Jelly Brown Ale, silver), and Vero Beach's Walking Tree Brewery (Duke Snider's Imperial Stout, bronze) round out the national beer victories for Florida.
Woohoo!
