The new glazed doughnut at Krispy Kreme is baked and topped with rainbow sprinkles, not actual "confetti," but still — a birthday's a birthday.

A deal is also a deal, which is why fans of the North Carolina-based chain should visit their closest location on Friday to celebrate its 81st anniversary. On Friday, with the purchase of any dozen doughnuts, Krispy Kreme customers can snag an extra dozen for $1 more.

The celebration also coincides with the release of the chain's glazed confetti doughnut. Yes, a truly revolutionary creation (they're just a bunch of different-colored sprinkles) available at participating locations — while supplies last — through Aug. 2.

Krispy Kreme operates locally in Brandon, St. Petersburg and Tampa.
