Sure, Alessi Bakery (2909 W. Cypress St., 813-879-4544) has been all over our fine paper the past few weeks (or, at least, their big ol' Cuban loaf has), but I couldn't let their latest news slide by without a mention.

This Sunday, Sept. 30, Alessi will be celebrating its 95th anniversary by pulling a Columbia. Four of their signature products — guava tarts, coconut macaroons, chocolate brownies and the classic sheet pan pizza — will all be available for a mere nine cents each, the approximate cost of the same items when Alessi's opened in 1912. There's a limit of four of each per person, but you can make a big ol' tasty feast for $1.44.

Undoubtedly they'll be snaking the Disney-sized line past every full-cost item they make, but all you have to do is hold out for the frugal prize. Eh, who am I kidding? I'll probably walk out with several hundred dollars' worth of giant cupcakes and smiley-face cookies.
