This weekend, the Historic Deuces Merchant Association has a block party planned for 905-913 22nd St. S., where local eats, art and live music will intertwine.
As CL covered in a recent piece about St. Pete’s culinary changes over the past 10 years, restaurants like Deuces BBQ and Chief’s Creole Cafe are bringing new interest to 22nd Street South. The two eateries and Lorene’s Fish and Crab House will provide the edible attractions for the family-friendly festival at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Chief’s Creole Cafe will serve up an authentic New Orleans crawfish boil, while Lorene’s prepares grilled burgers and more. Offering discounts for items like ribs and chicken on its regular menu, Deuces BBQ is set to roast a whole hog for a Southern-style pig pickin’ and feature $1 draft beers throughout the event.
The barbecuery also has a mac and cheese competition in store at 3:30. Twenty entries will show off their favorite mac recipes, and first place will take home a trophy, as well as $50 cash and $50 gift certificate to the restaurant.
In addition to the food, Gallerie 909 will highlight art events, games and hands-on activities for kids, and the music, including tunes from the Southside Blues Brothers, will kick off with the event. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
