A restaurant known for serving soul food with a twist is almost ready to ring in its grand reopening with Tampa. But first, Mr. B's Southern Cuisine has some daily specials planned before the celebration at 7 a.m. Saturday, where live music accompanies the new menu and hours.
Last summer, local restaurateur Calvin Jefferson originally debuted Mr. B's at 3401 N. Nebraska Ave. The restaurant features about 87 seats in a casual, inviting setting, and dishes now range from fried catfish and grits to chicken and waffles. Several vegan items are on hand, too.
"As we were developing the menu we were like, 'You gotta have this, you gotta have that,'" said Jefferson in a statement. "It's what we were raised on."
Despite the relaunch, Jefferson hasn't abandoned his mission of giving back to the community. That's why, leading up to Saturday, Mr. B's will offer complimentary breakfast to law enforcement (Tuesday), EMS providers and firefighters (Wednesday), active-duty military (Thursday), and food and lifestyle bloggers (Friday).
"It is our desire that Mr. B's becomes a container of activity and community conversation for all ages," Jefferson said.
Mr. B's operates 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
