A new Filipino restaurant named Mumu Kitchen opens tomorrow in Tampa Heights. Owners Chris Arreola and Chef Dion Jumapao grew up eating the cuisine and want to share those same flavors with guests.

The ghost kitchen concept operates out of Armature Works and service will function solely as a curbside and delivery only, serving Filipino foods rich in tradition. The idea behind their take-out only M.O. is the Pinoy tradition of “baon” (pronounced BAH-on) where the host would prepare enough food for guests to take home. Guests can begin to submit orders through Mumu Kitchen’s website when it goes live tomorrow. Choose between pickup in front of Armature Works—located at 1910 N. Ola Ave.—or delivery via GrubHub, DoorDash, and UberEats.

The Mumu menu includes dishes like steam fried wings covered in a fish sauce caramel with chilies, lime, and cilantro or adobo spare ribs with fried garlic, adobo glaze, rice, pickled green papaya and scallions. And yes, there’s pancit (Filipino-style stir fried noodles, pictured).

The only catch is that, for now, the concept is only open Tuesday and Thursday from noon-9 p.m.

Mumu Kitchen is the second Filipino concept to call Armature Works home (chismis & co. temporarily operated out of a rotating stall starting in 2018).

In the meantime, glance at Facebook and Instagram to see what else is on the menu.
