A little over a year ago, CL contributor Alexandria Jones got acquainted with David and Duane Hogg, twin brothers who run Hogg Batch coffee roastery, which specializes in unique beans barrel-aged with spirits like bourbon, rum, and whiskey.

Well, the brothers have decided to launch a production facility in St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District. It’s at 2327 Central Ave., and they’re referring to it as a “roastery museum.”

“Due to COVID and everything else going on we had to rethink our digital strategy and the future of coffee retail,” Hogg Batch wrote in a message to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.

Hogg Batch wants to use the address as a pickup spot for its customers and as a place to explore innovative ways to do retail geared toward home roasters. While the brothers in business aren’t launching the storefront as a coffee shop, they do intend to host occasional pop-ups and tastings.

Hogg Batch also wants to make sure the future of the roasting community is also being looked out for.

“Our secondary goal is to provide a place where up and coming roasters can get some footing without the huge financial commitment,” Hogg Batch added.
