Willing to spend some serious dough to escape the inevitable beach crowds this month? Well, CL found the splurgiest of the splurgy Memorial Day weekend vacation packages — with a bit of food and drink included — so you didn’t have to, and the destination ain’t too shabby.
Two words: Key West, where a new 100-room boutique property, The Perry Hotel, has started offering its Fly Away Seaplane Package to Tampa Bay residents.
The deal provides locals with private, round-trip seaplane transportation to and from any Tampa-area airport of their choice, courtesy of Keys Seaplanes. Featuring two seafood-focused restaurants, among other amenities, the hotel is just over the bridge from downtown Key West at Stock Island Marina, where each seaplane lands.
A $150 food and beverage credit, a bottle of Champagne for the journey and a three-night stay are also part of the package. But, like we said, it’s gonna cost ya.
Rates for Memorial Day weekend accommodations, which must be booked seven days in advance, start at $2,096 a night (or $1,048 a night per person). Phew.
Does an artisanal cheese and seasonal fruit platter sweeten the deal? Because the hotel throws that in, too — as it should, really.
