St. Petersburg’s Pete’s General Store and Bakery is opening a second shop this summer in the Grand Central District, at 2361 1st Ave. S.
The original Pete’s, which is part bodega part bakery, just celebrated its second anniversary in the Historic Uptown Neighborhood two miles away. The shop provides fresh bagels, muffins, cookies and other goodies baked daily, plus wares from local vendors. Sort of like if Rose Apothecary married Tartine, got rid of the ego, and moved to Florida.
As to what to expect for the second location, the hours will be the same–8 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week. But the store will be a little different.
“We are focusing much more on bagels and our staple baked goods, but we have some other surprises in the works!” Steven Peterman told Creative Loafing Tampa, who owns the shop with his wife Sara.
