Geraldson Community Farm and the Healthy Start Coalition of Manatee County are teaming up to execute the Brandenton farm's first field-to-fork dinner of the season.

The four-course meal, titled "Seeds for Life," will be served between 6 and 9 p.m. Saturday, when the organic, 20-acre farm's barn will morph into an intimate setting. Healthy Start nutritionist Susan Schussler and chef Dave Shiplett of the Brandenton-based SOMA Creekside restaurant have created a healthful, local menu with vegetables as the star.

Through their collaboration, Geraldson and Healthy Start, an organization that provides free support services for pregnant women, new mothers and infants, seek to bring awareness to how important access to fruits and vegetables is.

Diners will start with a stuffed squash blossom before diving into a seasonal greens and watermelon salad. Grilled gulf shrimp, fresh fish and roasted seasonal veggies are set to follow as an entrée, and a savory zucchini cupcake will finish off the spread. Darwin Brewing Co. will provide the evening's beer, too.

Tickets, available online, cost $60 for CSA members and $70 for non-members.
