Ditching its former identity as Cheddar's Casual Cafe, the renamed Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Pinellas Park plans to bring more attention to its scratch-cooking practices through a recipe contest that ends Thursday, March 19.

Locals are invited to submit their tastiest side dish recipes — in-person or via email to brand team@cheddars.com — for a chance to be featured on the casual-dining chain's Pinellas Park menu for six weeks. The winner will also receive a $250 Cheddar's gift card.

An updated logo, new signage, personalized recommendation cards from servers and signature take-home recipes will also help Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, headed by general manager Wendy Palmer, highlight its "scratch standard," according to a news release.

The region has a Cheddar's Casual Cafe in Brandon as well as Clearwater.
