Armed with their best recipes, locals will battle it out during the 6th Annual Old Salt Fish Spread Contest at 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 10, in Treasure Island.
Hosted at Gators Cafe & Saloon, the competition, which costs $10 per entry and is free to the public, will crown four winners.
Though three judges will critique the homemade spreads on taste and texture sans hot sauce, crackers and garnishes, the crowd's samples may be served with extra components. There's a People's Choice Award up for grabs, and the judges will distribute prizes, including a smoker, to first, second and third place victors.
Participants need to register for the contest online, and all entries must incorporate locally caught fish. Visit the event's website for more details.
