has announced that the company will remove high fructose corn syrup from their two most popular breads, Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Made with Whole Grain White bread and Sara Lee Soft & Smooth 100% Whole Wheat bread. Sara Lee joins a long list of companies removing high fructose corn syrup from their products, including Gatorade, Starbucks, Hunt's ketchup, and certain Pepsi and Coca Cola products.
The decision to remove high fructose corn syrup from certain Sara Lee products came about because consumers mothers especially had called into the company asking for the substance to be removed. This reflects a corporate awareness of consumer concern. It is also could be a sign of society is moving in a healthier direction.
