The Restorative’s literal Side Piece—a small restaurant located inside Caledonia Brewing—is closing in Dunedin, and the last day of service is April 25.

The good news for folks who need food with their beer is that Dunedin’s Q Southern BBQ is stepping into the 100-square-foot space, located at 587 Main St., and opening Q Southern Outpost.

On social media, Side Piece owners Jason and Cricket Borajkiewicz said that they’ve decided to focus more on their original restaurant and their love of fine dining.

“Running Side Piece has been such a fun opportunity for us,” the post stated. “2020 was a wild year for restaurants and breweries. We are so grateful we were able to partner with Caledonia Brewing during those shut downs.”

Side Piece opened last July and mainly focused on paninis and creative bar snacks while The Restorative was closed for a bit. The Borajkiewiczs have not been hasty in endorsing Side Piece’s replacement.

“Cam from Q Southern BBQ does some of the best food in town,” the post continued, “We've loved partnering with him in the past and frequent his restaurant on almost a weekly basis.”

That Cam is Dunedin’s Cameron Capri, who opened Q in March of 2020, relying on takeout and catering for survival. Creative Loafing Tampa Bay attested to the accolades of Capri's restaurant, giving raves reviews earlier this year.

Follow Side Piece’s Facebook for updates, as the social media pages will be changing to Q’s Southern Outpost as the changeover happens.
