Remember the Resilience IPA that Bradenton’s Motorworks Brewing and other local breweries collaboratively brewed to support the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund? Well, a few of those participating beer makers around the region have also decided to embrace a nationwide pint night celebrating the release of their creations.
On Thursday, Dec. 20, more than 1,400 breweries — including Safety Harbor’s Crooked Thumb Brewery, Tampa Bay Brewing Co. and Weeki Wachee’s Marker 48 Brewing (let us know if we missed someone) — plan to observe Resilience Night from coast to coast. They’ll feature their versions of the Resilience IPA on tap and then donate their beer sales to the relief fund, which benefits those impacted by the deadly Northern California wildfire last month.
Trinity brewery Escape will release its Resilience IPA, too, but tonight instead of later this week.
Nonetheless, their efforts could raise more than $15 million for the cause.
“The brewing community has really come together in this large-scale fundraising effort,” said Sierra Nevada founder and owner Ken Grossman in a statement. “Now we’re asking drinkers to come together and help us raise funds by buying the beer. And what better way to do it than with a nationwide pint night?”
Grossman and the rest of the Sierra Nevada crew will host Resilience Nights at their breweries in Chico and Mills River, North Carolina.
“We are so grateful to the breweries, the suppliers, the wholesalers and retailers who have so graciously donated their time and resources to make this happen,” Grossman continued. “With their help — and the help of the drinkers everywhere — we’ll be able to make a lasting and impactful difference in the lives of those impacted by this terrible tragedy.”
