This year, there is a "pre-event" for St. Pete Oktoberfest: a homebrewer's challenge. Four local homebrew clubs are participating, pouring a variety of styles that will be judged by a team of 'celebrity' judges as well as certified BJCP judges. Brewers will compete in four categories: Brown Ale, Spiced/Pumpkin beer, German Hefeweizen, Oktoberfest, or Stout.
Prizes and recognition will be given to brewers who receive the highest score in each category. This event is registered with the American Homebrewers Association and will comply with the BJCP regulations for beer competitions.
