A few weeks shy of celebrating its first anniversary in St. Pete, American restaurant Oaks on 4th announced its unfortunate, and immediate closure. The casual eatery with fine dining-level cuisine located 4351 4th St. N served its very last customers today.

“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and the tireless dedication of our team, we have made the difficult decision to close Oaks on 4th,” the restaurant posted on social media last Friday. “We have faced unforeseen challenges and obstacles that ultimately hindered our ability to continue operations.”

Although the popular restaurant made a lengthy farewell post on social media continuously thanking its loyal customers and staff,  its owners did not address any specific reasons for its closure.

The restaurant’s last day open is today, Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Oaks on 4th did not have a long life on St. Pete’s bustling 4th Street N.  Paul and Burton Bullard, the owners of Bascom’s Chop House—Clearwater’s beloved old school steakhouse—opened the casual restaurant out of a former Quickies BBQ in December of 2022.

The restaurant served cuisine that it described as “refined rustic,” and was known for its wide variety of steaks, appetizers like deviled eggs, steak tartare and chargrilled oysters, salads, pastas, and an exciting brunch menu.

Anyone with unused Oaks on 4th gift cards can redeem them at Bascom’s Chop House instead.

Creative Loafing Tampa Bay critics even awarded the concept “Best New Restaurant on 4th Street” at this year’s Best of the Bay awards, praising its great steaks, fast service and rustic ambiance.

“We genuinely regret that Oaks on 4th did not have the longevity we had envisioned,” the restaurant’s owners state on social media. “However, we are grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this community, even if only for a short while…It has been an honor to serve you, and we will always cherish the memories we have created together.”
