Wine bars are popping up all over the 'Burg before the year is up — Book + Bottle, Must Wine Loft and now CellarMasters Wine Bar & Bottle Shop which is coming soon to St. Pete's EDGE District. Locals Ryan Rugg and Kory Lynn are combining their passions, and certifications in the wine industry, to bring the 'Burg an escape from the typical bar and brewery experience.
"We want to give St. Pete a better view of what we know should be here, because [locals] haven't had access to it yet," Lynn told CL, adding that his spot will be focused on natural wines, beer and non-alcoholic fare.
The duo — Lynn is a certified sommelier and Ruff is a certified wine specialist — is shooting for a late fall opening at 1005 1st Ave. N. where CellarMasters will offer a hefty selection of rotating vinos by the bottle and glass, with a focus on natural wines. An intimate menu with cheeses, charcuterie and small plates made up of carefully sourced ingredients is also on tap.
"Think champagne and caviar every day," Lynn said. "The prices are meant to be affordable, but driven by quality ingredients."
And just because you have good taste doesn't mean CellarMasters will make you pay for it; the majority of bottles will be priced under $25 with fine wines and collectors bottles at the ready. Glasses will range anywhere from $8-$12, and if you're wanting to class it up, rare and exclusive blends will also be available at all times.
"Our focus is quality wines that overdeliver for the price while focusing on sustainability in the vineyards," Lynn said.
More details to come as construction continues.
