Earlier this month, Blake's Crab Cakes started commemorating two years in St. Petersburg with a pretty great special. The Maryland-style seafood shop has promised to offer 4.5 ounces of its signature item for $10 until the new year (see above).
All customers have to do is ask for their "two-year crab cake," made with a little filler, secret seasoning and Old Bay. They also might as well wash down the lump cakes — normally priced from $13 to $21 — with the menu's most recent arrivals: beer and wine.
Owner-chef Blake Rodgers opened Blake's on Central Avenue in 2016. In addition to crab cakes, the takeout-driven joint features items like crab balls, shrimp salad on a roll, Old Bay wings and steamed crabs.
Rodgers plans to formally celebrate the joint's two-year anniversary with a party Feb. 10.
