The sole Tampa Bay location has only been in operation since June 2018 when it made its grand debut with a bacon ribbon cutting. The storefront hosted a cafe with a bar, fresh ramen and sushi, a deli, organic packaged products and a slew of produce options.
On a phone call with CL, the St. Pete location confirmed that the location will be closing for good in the middle of February. An article by the Sun-Sentinel confirmed the date to be February 12. Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22, Lucky's Market will begin offering items at a 25% discount as the grocery store begins to liquidate its products.
Although we bid farewell to Lucky's Market, Tampa Bay is not suffering from a shortage of niche health-focused supermarkets. As a matter of fact, we're swimming in them—Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Rollin' Oats, Nature's Food Patch, Whole Foods—all of which have multiple locations. Although we do have our fair share of these stores, you might want to get in your last Sip and Stroll in while cleaning out the aisles at Lucky's. If you're unfamiliar with the Sip and Stroll program, you've been missing out these last two years. The S&S program allows shoppers to grab a $2 beer or a glass of wine for $3 while they shop. It could be dangerous on your budget, but it makes your screaming toddler easier to handle.
