While most of Tampa Bay patiently awaits the arrival of this weekend's Gasparilla pirate festival, Asian-fusion restaurant Hawkers in downtown St. Petersburg is preparing for the 2020’s Chinese New Year. It’s celebration is set to take place this Friday at 8 p.m., with a dumpling-driven feast and live entertainment.
Traditional Chinese lion dancing, giveaways, customary red envelopes stuffed with coupons, and rounds of dumplings will be on deck for this Lunar New Year celebration. If you’re lucky, you’ll get the red envelope with a $50 Hawkers gift card inside.
A menu full of lucky foods traditionally eaten during Chinese New Year’s will also be offered, including noodles that represent happiness, dumplings and spring rolls that stand for wealth, and shellfish that epitomizes prosperity.
Snag a patio seat so you can watch the performances while you munch on your lucky eats.
