The Crumb Factory started as a cottage kitchen concept and has now grown to a full-scale baking operation, and it could finally be open its doors in the old Rae Rae’s Cafe space as early as August 15.

Owners Pablo Mardones and Felipe Zavala started their venture on Instagram, taking orders through direct messages in April 2020. A few months later, in August, the duo announced they were looking to expand to a brick-and-mortar location, and they’ve been renovating the 2,400-square-foot-space at 5701 Central Ave ever since.

The bakery places a focus on bread, a staple in Chile where the owners grew up. That means, alongside fresh pastries, you can look forward to fresh whole wheat loaves, baguettes, ciabatta and even two-pound sourdough country loaves.

You can follow the bakery’s Instagram @crumbfactorybakery to keep up with all the latest.
