Tru Vegan Creamery—located at 1499 N Nebraska Ave.—opened its doors for the first time on Sunday, Feb. 26.
Currently, its ice cream menu includes flavors like vanilla, double chocolate, strawberry, key lime, chocolate iced cookies and vanilla birthday cake. Milkshake options mostly mirror its ice cream offerings, with the addition of comforting favorites like chocolate and avocado and peanut butter and chocolate.
Guests can also indulge in its slushies loaded with refreshing flavors like watermelon, lime, mint, orange, pineapple and strawberry.

A press release states that Tru Vegan Creamery’s grand opening “marks the beginning of a historical journey for Black women and the resurgence of the historic Park Plaza.”
Owners and local businesswomen Melody Snyder-Owens, Allison Clerbert and Tenisha Patterson-Brown joined forces to open a one-of-a-kind vegan dessert shop in their hometown, inspired by their love of Tampa and the plant-based lifestyle.
They recently told ABC Action News that their newly-opened ice cream shop is hopefully one of many, because the trio strives to eventually franchise their business, in addition to creating a “mentorship program for other entrepreneurial women.”
Tru Vegan Creamery’s website says that its mentorship and grant program will launch sometime in 2023.
Although there’s not too many restaurants in a close proximity to Tru Vegan Creamery, both Flan Factory and the newly-opened natty wine bar La Sétima aren’t too far away.
The dessert shop’s ice cream scoops, slushies and milkshakes are available via DoorDash , Uber Eats and online ordering directly from its website.
Tru Vegan Creamery is now open from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 12 p.m.-7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information on Tampa’s newest ice cream shop, follow its Facebook page or Instagram at @truvegancreamery.
